The
PTA is
excited to begin our 10th year of providing the Accelerated Reader
(AR) program.
This year we are on a
rock star search for some Deer Creek Idols and students climbing the
Billboard Chart of Deer Creek’s Top Readers.
AR is an enrichment
reading program for all Deer Creek students in grades 1-4. The AR
program is completely optional.
AR will start on
Tuesday, September 13.
Students can
pick any book from the school library that has a blue sticker on the
spine that indicates it is an AR book. The book will also have
a white label showing the reading level for the book and the number
of points it is worth. For example, a book level of 1.4
indicates it is a 1st grade reading level. Students can also
choose books from the teacher’s classroom or from home as long as
the book is on the Deer Creek AR list. There are over 4000
books currently on the list ranging from reading levels of 0.3 to
11.8 and point levels of 0.5 to 44. The hyperlinks below
provide a list of some of the quizzes available. The current list of
quizzes will be updated on this website as soon as possible.
Also, the Crowley Public Library has the Deer Creek AR list so
parents and kids can check to see if a book in the library is on our
AR list. A list of the incentives for this year is included
at the bottom of this page.

Notes: When the student reaches the star
level a keychain and charm will be earned.
For each additional level achieved the student will receive
an additional charm for the keychain.
In addition, every month, the classroom with the highest
participation for each grade will receive a special prize.
The classroom for each grade with the most points will get to
display an AR Pennant above their door.
The students with the highest points in each grade for the
month will be a Deer Creek Idol and get their pictures on the AR
board the following month.
The top 3 point earners in the school for the year will each receive
a trophy and the student and class with the most points for the year
will get their name added to a plaque that is displayed in the
library.
